What Makes the Family Business Unique?

Having the day to day experiences of being an internet marketing coach, I get to experience first hand the achievements and success stories of my clients at a personal level. Many of my clients employ their own family members. It is not uncommon for a mom or dad to hire their son or daughter. It has been good to experience that through my clients. Here are some of the advantages of hiring your adult children:

Having someone that really cares about your business.
Someone that is more than just a employee.
Preparing that son to daughter to lead a growing business.

I had a client that shared with me just today, the impact his son had over the summer break from college. He put his son in charge of his linking campaign for all of his businesses. Next week, his son leaves to start fall semester and still wants to work for his dad to manage his linking campaign. Incredible story. This internet marketing dad was able to leverage his knowledge of internet marketing with his son and create enormous growth in a 3 month period.

Another client, hired her daughter. She was able to refine tasks, build checklists and streamline her efficiency. With her daughter's helping hand she is now able to go to bed at a reasonable hour and get the rest she deserves. Who knows, maybe I can even talk her into going on a vacation! The point is when you hire someone you love and trust and your work load is lighter, you can really live, love, laugh and enjoy life!

And just to validate the POWER of family, in a family business, another client comes to mind. This client spend alot of time in prayer, Bible study and seeking God's will for her business and was lead to bring both her daughter and her son into her online business. Her business is really taking off!

And some may say, I tried hiring my family members and that did not work for me. I understand that. Sometimes it is a timing thing. Sometimes, your children's dreams are not your dreams. You should never force that on them.

What does make the family business model unique? Their individual level of understanding of one another? Their appreciation, love and self-sacrifice for one another? It is much deeper than just some genetic bond, it is the building of a legacy for generations to come. The challenge of it, the hope of it, the experience of how the business evolves, as we all contribute as a team.

As for me, my family and I have been very fortunate to study, learn and implement from Stompernet faculty, members, staff and BrAndy. We have learned alot. We have been able to use that knowledge to help others grow their business. So here is an introduction of who is on my team, along with what their job responsibilities are at BOS (Brister's Online Stores).

Freddie Brister is the founder and brain child of our dozen or more e-commerce stores. Freddie is skilled at keyword research, PPC, organic seo and problem-solving. Freddie has been a teacher and football coach for 25 years. Freddie enjoys being an internet marketing business coach and a internet marketing consultant.
Colby Brister, formed InternetConsultingNow.com as a business parthership with his father, Freddie. Colby has successfully implemented social media as part of his marketing mix in his own websites. Colby has a strategic mind and can assist clients in the assessment of their competion and how to overcome them in the SERPS in e-commerce and affiliate marketing.
Mandy Brister, an Internet Content Marketing manager, has refined an effective system of marketing high quality content to relevant publishers. This system yields a solid way to get enhance one way links pointing to your website. Mandy offers several content marketing packages, depending on the results you would like to achieve.
And then, there's me… Joyce Brister. I would like to think I am the one that keeps everyone on track, but really Freddie, Colby and Mandy are pretty much self-starters. We do colaborate on all of our projects and find that our varied skills is what makes OUR family business unique.
I could not end this post without acknowledging the team of folks that work for us, that run the day to day operations in our e-commerce stores. Although they are not related to us, they are like part of our family. That is just how we operate.
