			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is smoking hot in Mississippi now, some days we have had 100 degree weather and the heat index along with the humidity makes it difficult to even think about Christmas. But hey, I am an entrepreneur and have multiple e-commerce stores and I have to start preparing now so that I can maximize the time I have now to be prepared in November and December.</p>
<p>I wanted to share my to do list so that it might help other E-commerce marketers get ready as well. </p>
<p>We usually go to some specialty gift markets and do our buying for Christmas around June or July. After the market, I take the orders and start building the spreadsheets to upload the new products, pictures and descriptions. By August 1 to August 15th, I will have those products live. Many people do shop early for Christmas.</p>
<p>Currently, I have an ad posted is 2 places, one at the career center at Mississippi State for an intern for the fall semester and another from the STEPS program with the WIN Job Center. So far, I have gotten a number of people to apply for part-time positions for the holidays. Around August 1-15, I will start interviewing.</p>
<p>The next and most important thing, is planning my email marketing strategy for the holidays. I have a number of holiday graphics saved somewhere on my computer, lol. I will find those and start developing my email templates for holiday promotions starting in October.</p>
<p>I will update you soon of my progress and steps to get ready for Christmas shopping season in August.</p>

<p>1.	Encourage Sign Ups:</p>
<p>Make sure you are networking with potential clients and asking them to sign up.<br />
Also capture your online visitor’s attention with a great offer.<br />
Keep the opt-in  form simple: first name and email address.<br />
Keep the form above the fold.</p>
<p>2.	Provide Valuable Content:</p>
<p>Deliver content that your users will perceive as valuable.<br />

Use the Facebook “Like” button for promotions to go viral.</p>
<p>5.	End The Email Message the Right Way:</p>
<p>Add a “P.S.” section, since it stands alone and draws in the reader’s eye.<br />
Do not to end with a “sell technique.<br />
Give them a direct call to action.</p>
<p>6.	Have a Contest:</p>
<p>Use email marketing to promote contests and events that you are having on your blog or Facebook pages.<br />
Announce the contest winners in follow up email, along with pictures of the winners, testimonials and comments.</p>

The single factor that 90% of them have in common is not their knowledge, but the time they spend studying their metrics and tracking what is working and what is not working in their marketing plan of action.</p>
<p>I hear a variety of excuses, do any of them sound familiar to you?</p>
<p>*not enough time to implement because of operational responsibilities<br />
*this is how I have always done it<br />
*not enough resources to spend extra money on ramping  up my marketing<br />
*the lone wolf can only do so much<br />
*I am comfortable<br />
* I have never used tracking software before</p>
<p>The sad part is when I meet a marketer that doesn&#039;t even have Goggle Analytics set up. Everyone should have that from day one. It &#039;s free! Make sure you set up the funnels so that you can track your optins, sales and other conversions.</p>
<p>Most marketers are concerned about getting traffic to their website. Looking at your metrics, your marketing channels and direct referrers can reveal what traffic sources are converting best.</p>
<p>Concentrating your efforts on higher converting traffic will help to grow and accelerate your business even in a down economy. So don&#039;t try to re-invent the wheel, find out traffic sources are already working (converting) and increase your marketing activity there. </p>
