Got Writer's Block? How To Outsource Your Content and Article Writing

Another method for writing articles that I use quite often when I have writers block is getting other people to write articles for me. I go to elance.com and submit a job. The job posting will say something like this:

“I am looking for someone to write 10 original 500 word articles in context about 10 different subjects of which I will provide. I am willing to pay $50.00 for these 10 articles.”

The response I get from that ad is great and even if I don’t use the 10 articles, I get some great ideas on what other people have said. This $50.00 helps me get over my block and I get some articles that will help me earn back my $50.00 and much more.

The key part of this job post is that I want it to be simple. I don’t want it to be complicated for the writer. I want it to look like a fairly simple thing for the writer to do. I don’t want to complicate it with a lot of keywords or research requirements. I include the article subjects in the post to attract the writers with that expertise.

It is not important for the keywords I am trying to optimize for to be in the articles itself. I include them in the bio that with the article when I post it. The only thing I really want is a simple, interesting article about the subject matter. I am most interested in it being a good article to my market place. In other words, if I sell to sports fans I want the article to appeal to sports fans. If the article is successful, then it will syndicate and that is what I am ultimately after.

Develop Strong Supporting Ideas

SUPPORTING IDEAS

“S” reminds you to develop supporting ideas that back up the main idea statement. Yes it is obvious to say that but don’t forget to do this. The supporting points of a good article reinforce the main idea such that the reader continually wants more information.

Can writing articles for Internet Marketing possibly apply here? Well, it has worked for me in writing many 400-500-word articles. For example, creating article content for submission to top ranked article directories- is one of my main strategies for getting back links to my money site.

Selecting the Main Idea for Your Article

MAIN IDEA

“M” represents the main idea. What is the one thing you want the reader to get out of reading your article? You want your main idea in the opening paragraph or often in the first sentence. Be direct, be concise, tell them what it is about then use the rest of the article to support your main idea.

What is the Purpose of Your Article?

PURPOSE

“P” stands for purpose. What is the purpose of the article? What is the emotional impact you want to evoke in your reader? What action do you want the reader to take? Focusing on the intent of your article will allow you to write more specifically and not try to do too much. Remember how articles work on the internet is not the same as a school report. Your purpose is to enhance the search engine power to your key words while at the same time generating reader interest enough to want to know more about your product.
Looking at the dashboard (analytics) in Ezine Articles allows you to see which articles are most popular, most viewed and get syndicated the most. In conclusion, this gives the author a development pathway to create more content in these specific areas.
The more subscribers to your content, the more success you will have in getting your content pages indexed and staying indexed by Google.

Pick a Clever Topic

“T” stands for topic. The first step to writing an article is to pick your topic. Sounds simple enough, huh? Well, “T” can also stand for tricky.
There is something to be said for eye catching titles but is that enough to get your article pushed up to the most viewed in the category directories. There are also some subjects that are far for popular so finding these trends or universal problems.
A nifty tool I like to use is this headline analyzer tool.
So you can add more emotional marketing value to your headlines and get your copy read.
You might think the topic you choose to simply be about the keyword you are trying to rank for. That may be true, but not always. Why? Well that depends on the next step that starts with the letter, “P.”

Article Writing Formula

Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? Me too and I am no Hemmingway, but perhaps closer to Mark Twain with a storyteller personality. I am much the story teller, that is my style. My words come out of my mouth and make sense but it is much more challenging to write them down in a logical fashion.

Writing and submitting articles is a popular way to market products, services and build brand awareness on the Internet. Once you get things systemized it can be a sustainable marketing strategy for getting back links and interior links. Everyone always says that we need to write articles to improve, but how many of us actually know how to do it? Do we know what makes a good or not so good article? Do we have the ability to get past our own writers block? Well, I know your pain and hope to make it easier by sharing with you my formula for successful articles.

So lets get started.

While learning any new marketing strategy, I personally learn the technique first before I outsource to others. This allows me to document all the steps as I go and connect the dots in my initial strategy, as well as tweak my system. If I hit a roadblock, I find experts and try to study and emulate their systems. Next, I take what I have learned from other successful people, refine my strategy and wash, rinse and repeat.

So, in the beginning, I wrote my own articles.
*This is a 5 part series outlining my personal formula for writing article. Please come back later this week and I will be releasing the other parts daily.

The Answer: More Turkey, Dressing, Football, Links and To Do List

The Question, what am I going to be doing over the Thanksgiving holidays?

1) Eating turkey and dressing leftovers
2) Watching great college rival football games on TV like: Miss State vs Ole Miss (Egg Bowl) and Auburn vs Alabama (Iron Bowl) and probably any other college games and of course on Thanksgiving day the parades.
3) Implementing some new linking strategies.
4) Implement holiday to do check list.

So what are you going to be doing this weekend and how is your e-commerce store doing?

Here is my checklist to get ready for the holiday season which is already in full swing for me.

Train temporary employees to answer the phone and pack and ship.
Contact my merchant account to increase my limit.
Email customers about my Black Friday online specials.
Order additional shipping supplies from the post office.
Get cut-off shipping dates and holiday schedules from my vendors and suppliers and dump them in a spreadsheet.
Ramp up my PPC campaigns.
Add some holiday graphics to my site.
Blog about my Black Friday specials.
Check inventory for overstocked and discontinued items and reduce the price.

Well, that's about it for the business side of it. Other than that, Thanksgiving day is reserved for family and giving thanks to God for allowing my business to grow, employ others and provide great products and services to my customers.

And although I have a long to do list, I am thankful to God for allowing me to have my own business and prosper. I give thanks to Him for allowing me to accomplish the tasks on my list and helping me to realize not to get so busy that I forget to praise His name.

Phillipians 4:13 I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.

The Four Functions of Management

The Four Functions of Management

By Colby Brister, Internet Consultant and Business Owner

Management concepts are even more important in 2009 than they have been in the past. The evolution of business is ever changing with trends moving towards outsourcing and virtual employees. Although the four basic functions of management remain the same, the communication technologies and business management software have rapidly advanced and so that the implementation of particular management systems have advanced as well.

Leading has always been a major component or function of business management. Companies must have set policies and procedures based on specific goals and objectives in order for an organization to run smoothly. (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/management-concepts-the-four-functions-of-management.html). Management also needs to lead in a broad sense that assists in accomplishing the company mission statement, short term goals and long term goals as stated in the company’s business plan.

In order to be successful at the task of leading others, a manager must have respect from his or her team. Respect is earned and it can come from credentials, awards or other honors. Most of the time the greatest management leaders are those who can empower others to achieve things they once we not able to do. A good manager is always challenging their team to improve and shows the employees by his/her own example of the baseline or tempo of his own merits.

Success also comes to the manager, who is able to motivate his staff in both good and bad situations. A good leader is able to identify strife amongst team members and arbitrate the situation, so that all are treated with fairness and respect.

PPC Campaign Not Profitable? Maybe Your Landing Page Is Crappy Like Mine Was!

Founder of SEO REvolution

Founder of SEO REvolution

You have heard it before from other internet markering consultants like  Jerry West , test your keywords by running Google Adwords campaigns. So I listened and took action. After anaylzing several of my campaigns, with SEO Revolution, Jerry West, he was quick to point out and teach me why so many of my PPC campaigns were not performing so well.

First of all, you need to make sure that you are using keyword(s) that specifically sell for your offer (your product). Next, take a look at the landing page that you are driving traffic to. Are you giving them a reason to make the purchase? Are you showcasing the best selling products. Do you really understand what drives or motives your potential customer to make a purchase for  this item?

Most likely you are not selling a product that meets their minimum basic needs like, food, clothing or shelter. Once a person's basic needs are meet and they have money left over to spend, usually they make a purchase based on want….which is driven by emotion.

Figuring out the emotion your potential customer must feel to make a purchase means you must understand their pain or their reason for the emotion. Evoke this emotion with good sales copy and a strong call to action.

Basically, send them to a landing page that matches with the term they typed in the search box and give the customer what they want  and tell them that they need it.

So now I am ready to take the advice of Jerry West and start de-crappifying my landing pages and  make my PPC campaign more profitable.

Jerry also recommended that I download his "Kitchen Table Copy" for Designing Landing Pages and study that before I get started tweaking my landing pages. So, I gotta go do that right now. If you would like to join SEO Revolution, take it from me, you will get tested and proven SEO information along with great tools for a low monthly membership price and Don't Risk Getting Banned by Google, join today!

Thanks Jerry,  Freddie and I are glad you are coaching us and are are proud to be members of SEO Revolution….wished we had joined sooner.
