Working from home is something many people dream of; and with the increasing popularity of internet marketing as a career, there are a growing number of people doing exactly that. While it's wonderful to have the freedom to work on your own schedule and the comfort of being able to work from home, a lot of people getting started in running businesses where they work from home have some trouble adjusting to making their home a workplace. This is true whether you have your own business or work for a company and telecommute.

Working from home is comfortable, yes; but it's very easy to get sidetracked when you're working in a place which you associate with your downtime more strongly than you do the idea of putting in a day of work. To find out more about how to cut down on distractions and keep your focus on taking care of business while working from home, read on!
The first and most important thing is to create a home office. While ideally this would be a separate room with a door you can close to shut out the rest of the world while you work, this isn’t possible for everyone. The key is to make a designated space in your home where you go when you work – and only when you’re working. This needs to be a place which you associate with getting things done. You'll be far less distracted as you work when you carve out a workspace for yourself.

You'll need a chair which is comfortable and ergonomically correct – yet not so comfortable you'll be tempted to use it for relaxing. You'll need a desk and a computer with an internet connection as well, obviously. Some find turning off their phone or having no phone line in the home office to be helpful. If your business requires that you be reachable by phone or need to make phone calls regularly in the course of your work, then this won't be an option for you; but you should make a "no personal calls" rule for while you’re working in your office.

Setting a schedule for yourself is also important. Of course, flexibility is what draws many to a work from home business in the first place, there is such a thing as too much flexibility. Try setting office hours for your business – it doesn't matter all that much what hours these are as long as they're regular. A separation between your work time and personal time is important to staying motivated while you take care of your business however. If at all possible, make a schedule which you can stick to – and if you have children, try as much as possible to work this around the hours when they won't be there; every parent knows how distracting children at play can be, even in another room!

It can take a little readjustment to get into the swing of working from home and maintaining the same level of productivity you would in a conventional job. Since you're working for yourself, you have to be your own motivator and coach. Push yourself to get things done and to achieve ever bigger and better things. Keep in mind why you began working from home in the first place – to be your own boss and to create wealth for yourself instead of someone else. If you can keep your eyes on the prize, you should be able to clear away distractions and build success for your home business.Work From Home Distractions
